CTET Syllabus, Exam Pattern, Eligibility and More
CTET stands for Central Teacher Eligibility
Test. The test comes under the jurisdiction of Central government for the Board
of Secondary Education. The Ministry of Human Resource Development is
responsible for conducting this test. One can get more information about CTET

The Exam
The CTET Exam is meant for recruiting
teachers for government schools for the students of class 1 to VIII. Two papers need to be cleared for getting
selected as a CTET candidate. Those who go for only paper one; they can teach
students of class 1 to VIII. Candidates clearing both the papers are eligible
for teaching till class eight.
Pattern for CTET
There are one hundred and fifty objective
questions to be cleared on Pedagogy and development of Child, Math,
Environmental Studies and 1 & 11 Language. Each test is for duration of one
and a half hour.
Syllabus for CTET Examination
The paper on Child Development and Pedagogy
is of thirty marks. Main focus of the questions is on psychology of both
teaching and learning process of children aged six to eleven. The 30 questions
are divided according to different topics. There are fifteen questions
pertaining to Child Development, ten questions are based on learning and
pedagogy and five questions deal with the topic of special needs of a child
requiring special attention.
Language I paper is of 30 objective type
questions. Fifteen questions are based on comprehension and the other fifteen
deals with Pedagogy of Language Development. Both prose and drama are taken for
a comprehension passage. Grammar and verbal ability are also part of this
paper.
Paper on Language II is also of 30
objective type questions in which fifteen questions are based on Pedagogy of
Language Development. The paper also contains questions on grammar and there is
also questions based on aptitude.
CTET paper based on Mathematics comes with
30 questions. Fifteen questions are devoted to solids that are all around us,
geometry, division, weight, volume, addition, multiplication, division,
subtraction, measurements, data handling, time, patterns and money. In the
other set of fifteen questions we deal with Pedagogy of logical thinking and
reasoning patterns.
Next in the CTET Syllabus is the paper on
Environmental Studies. The paper comes with thirty objective type questions.
Questions are based on topics like food, family, shelter, friends, travel and
water. Fifteen questions are concerned with Pedagogical Issues.
Negative marking is not there for these
papers.
Apart from the two language papers, paper
on Child Development and Pedagogy, Math and Science we have in addition
questions based on Social Studies and Social Sciences. There are 150 questions
to be answered in paper 11.
One can do thorough study of NCERT books
which are meant for students of class one to eight.
