Bureau
of Indian Standards BIS has invited online applications for several positions. There are
total 97 technical lab assistant position in chemical, mechanical, electrical
and microbiology divisions. There are 15 openings for stenographer and
21 openings for junior stenographer. 46 post of lower division clerks, 2 posts
of Hindi translator and 17 posts of assistant are also to be filled through
this recruitment drive.

Eligibility Criteria
Age limit
Individuals applying for post of Assistant and Stenographer
should be between 18 years to 30 years.
All other applicants should be between 18 years to 27 years
of age.
Educational
qualification
1.
Lower division clerk:
a.
Competitors must be a graduate from any stream .
he must also have a 1-year diploma in computers from any recognized institution.
b.
He or she should have typing speed of minimum 30
words per minute in English and 25 words per minute in Hindi.
2.
Junior Stenographer
a.
Competitors must be a graduate from any stream .
he must also have a 1-year diploma in computers from any recognized
institution.
b.
He or she should have shorthand speed of minimum
80 words per minute in English or in Hindi.
c.
Should be well versed with computers
3.
Stenographer
a.
Competitors must be a graduate from any stream .
b.
He or she should have shorthand speed of minimum
100 words per minute in English or in Hindi. [ dictation test of 7 minutes will
be given where they would need to transcribe in hindi for 45 minutes and
English.
c.
Should be well versed with computers
4.
Technical Assistant in chemical division
a.
Should hold three year diploma in chemical
engineering with aggregate of 60% or
b.
Should be a graduated from science stream with
aggregate of 60% and should have chemistry as one of the main subjects.
c.
SC/ST/OBC candidates will have 10% relaxation in
the aggregate percentage requirement.
5.
Technical Assistant in Mechanical division
a.
Should hold three year diploma in mechanical
engineering with aggregate of 60%
b.
SC/ST/OBC candidates will have to obtain 50%
aggregate
6.
Technical Assistant in Electrical Engineering
a.
Should
hold three year diploma in Electrical engineering with aggregate of 60%
b.
SC/ST/OBC candidates will have to obtain 50%
aggregate
7.
Technical Assistant in Microbiology
a.
Should hold three year diploma in food
technology/ agriculture engineering with aggregate of 60% or
b.
Should be a graduated from science stream with
aggregate of 60% and should have Bio technology or Microbiology as one of the
main subjects.
c.
SC/ST/OBC candidates will have 10% relaxation in
the aggregate percentage requirement.
8.
Junior Translator (Hindi)
a.
Should hold a masters degree in Hindi or English
from a recognized institution or
b.
Should hold a masters degree in English or Hindi
medium and should have English or Hindi as one of the subjects.
c.
Should have 2 year diploma in translation from Hindi
to English or English to Hindi.
Assistant:
a.
should be a graduate from any stream
How to Apply
Interested individuals must visit www.bis.org.in to apply online for different
positions. They would need to fill in their personal details, educational
details etc in the form. They would also need to provide an email address
during the application process. It is important to provide valid email address
because all the communication from BIS would be sent on this address.
Information regarding examination dates, call letters, admit cards etc will be sent
on the email address provided at the time of registration.
Once they have
filled these details, they will receive an E-challan in the email. The need to take
a print of it. Prescribed application fees need to be paid through this
E-challan at any of the State Bank Of India Branches. Application fee for all
positions except Jr.Stenographer and LDC is Rs 500. Individuals will need to
bear bank processing charges of Rs 35 hence total fee would be Rs 535.
Applicants for Junior stenographer and lower division clerk need to pay Rs 335
as fees.
Once the application fee is paid, candidates need to wait
for 48 hours and then check their payment status via login id and password
provided to them. Once they payment is confirmed, they would need upload their passport
size photograph and a scanned image of their signature. This completes the
application process.
Selection Process Examination syllabus and Pattern
Competitors will need to appear for competitive examinations
for the positions that they are applying. This exam will test their knowledge
in communication, current affairs, logic and reasoning and their
specialization.
Competitors who clear their examinations with prescribed marks
will be ranked on merit basis and will need to appear for a personal interview.

LDC competitors will need to face a written test and typing
test, whereas Jr. Stenographer competitors would need to appear for their
written exam and short hand test.

written test, short hand test and personal interview.
